First of all, and most importantly, I love my work. It’s what I was born to do. People often ask me, “Isn’t it hard on you, listening to peoples’ problems all day?” The answer is a definite no! In fact, far from the burnout I hear some in the helping professions talk about, I have more energy at the end of most days. I consider it a gift and an honor to work with people every day to help them navigate their way out of pain and suffering and towards peace, love, and a meaningful life.
As a therapist, I firmly believe that it is important for me to do my own work on myself, something I have been consistently doing for the last 30+ years. Practice what you preach, as they say. I’ve also gladly put in years of work in learning skills and methods of helping people heal. Some of the modalities and spiritual paths I have studied in-depth over the years include: Traditional Clinical Counseling; Hakomi Therapy; Internal Family Systems Therapy; Focusing; Past Life Regression Therapy; Big Mind Process; Clarity Process; Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction; Mindfulness Based Addiction Therapy; Yoga; Reiki; Rolfing; Craniosacral Therapy; Vipassana Meditation, and A Course In Miracles. I have a masters degree in clinical counseling, and am fully licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
My style of working with people is intuitive, and always begins with listening. We start with you talking about what it’s like to be you; your current experience. You are invited to talk about what happens, what you have, what you want, and what you think the problem is, and we get clear on your goals for therapy. From there, I help you to focus in on your current patterns of interpretation and reaction as they relate to the problems you’re experiencing. We then look deeper, and examine the core beliefs and assumptions that inform the current problematic pattern.
Inevitably, there is a mis-alignment happening within: a disconnect, a core belief that turns out to be false, a way of being in the world that operates out of fear and is out of alignment with who you really are. In the most practical way, I help you undo your false beliefs and damaging survival strategies, and find your true Self. Then, you are truly free. Free to be who you were meant to be, and live your authentic life. This process of self-empowerment will help you navigate life's rough waters, and find peace and happiness, regardless of what happens around you or what others do. This is true power.
I am confident that if you are willing to look at yourself openly and honestly, and connect with the deepest and tenderest parts of yourself, you are going to feel better. And it won’t take months or years, either. Most people feel much better and more hopeful after the first session. Change can begin immediately. You already have everything you need to heal, all that is lacking is a little guidance.
I have an active psychotherapy practice in Houston, Texas, where I see clients both in-person and online. If you feel you are ready and willing to heal, I would love to work with you.
